Our Mission
To establish and develop a modern technologically advanced hatchery capable of reliable supply of quality seed to meet market demand. We intend to place special emphasis on the production of disease resistant lines, pedigree lines and the production of triploids.
OUR HISTORY
In 2007, Southern Cross Shell fish (SCS) Pty. Ltd. relocated from Tasmania to an old NSW Fisheries research site located in the grounds of Tomaree Lodge Shoal Bay, Port Stephens. SCS have developed specific expertise and invested significant resources into this site and now provide 75% of the industry requirements for hatchery produced Sydney rock oyster spat in NSW and Queensland. In addition SCS have developed reliable and repeatable techniques for the production of triploid Sydney rock and Pacific oysters and are partnering with NSW Fisheries in research to further this work for industry.
